Reeves, the Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz Associate Professor of
Music in Jazz Double Bass, leads his quartet for the opening night of
the Walnut Hill Jazz Series in 2020, featuring Josh Bruneau, Matt De
Champlain, and Kirk Woodard. Reeves began playing
bass at the age of sixteen, and has traveled
the world ever
since, performing in India, Japan, and at jazz festivals in San
Francisco, New Orleans, Detroit and Atlanta, and most recently with
Pharoah Sanders at Dizzy's at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts
in New York City.
Mr. Reeves continues to play around the world, and teaching
the next generation of musicians in Hartford. First Night Hartford, the city's annual
New Year's Eve party, will begin on Dec. 30 this year to to honor the accomplishments and career of this local legend.
