The Essex Art Association is holding its second juried exhibit of the 2019 Season. The theme for this exhibition is "Converge." Our exhibition chair, Lee Bardenheuer explained the theme this way, "Your sources are virtually without limit and a matter of your choice. Gather your favorites, put them on the end of your brush and share them with the world."
Because juried shows are judged for entry as well as awards they are as known venues for displaying high quality artwork. The EAA invites the public to visit the gallery and view the work of our talented local artists.
The Association will be presenting $1500 in awards in 12 categories, plus one artist will receive the Gantner Gallery Award, affording them the opportunity to showcase their artwork in the EAA's Gantner Gallery next year.
The Gantner Gallery show, "Papa's Retirement," will feature work by watercolor artist Richard Raicik. He is a primarily self-taught artist, with the exception of the many workshops he has attended from his good friend and mentor artist Robert Norieka. Richard's work has been accepted into many juried shows and has won numerous awards.
The exhibition juror, Anne Doris-Eisner is a painter whose works have been exhibited in many solo, group and juried shows in Connecticut and around the country. Anne studied art at the University of Miami and earned a B.A. and M.A. in Art Education from Southern Connecticut State University. Anne was a distinguished art educator for many years and won prestigious awards in the field of education. www.annedoriseisner.com
