The Curl Daddys will make some waves on the New Haven shoreline when they bring their California-style surfing sound to the Pardee-Morris House. The free performance is hosted by the New Haven Museum, which owns and operates the historic site. Rain date: Thursday, July 25.
The Curl Daddys repertoire reflects a time of hot rods, days at the beach, and fun in the sun, including rockabilly, surf and vintage rock'n roll, instrumentals, originals and covers from The Ventures, Dick Dale, Johnny Burnett, The Los Straightjackets, Dave Clark Five and many others.
The band consists of seasoned musicians with long histories in blues and rock: Dino Pelletier (lead/rhythm guitar/vocals) owner of The Guitar Workshop and long-time front man of East Coast Blues; Scott Putnum (lead/rhythm guitar) formerly of The Black Olive Blues Band and Knee Deep; Mario Agnello (bass) currently of The Surf Squad and Then Came 3, and Wild Man Ken Punt (drums/percussion) currently of Dreaming The Blues. Each bring their own flavor to this mix of shimmy, shake'n, hip twist'n, high-energy music.
