The Southington Public Library is proud to announce the introduction of themed kits called "Take Me Back Totes." These totes are designed as a tool to encourage conversation and reminiscing for people experiencing cognitive change or that have dementia. The kits are intended to be used between caretakers and their loved ones. Each tote will contain a variation of the following multisensory items: conversation cards, DVDs, CDs, tactile objects, and books. Some of the themes that will be available are, the 1940's, the 1950's, cooking and baking, just to list a few. The kits will be available near the Reference desk. Simply take them out with your library card and enjoy them for a week. The Southington Public Library is a part of the Dementia Friendly Southington initiative and has taken steps to provide resources and programs to enrich the lives of people experiencing cognitive change.
