Monday, June 17, 6:30 p.m., Ryan's Story, Southington Public Library. John lost his thirteen-year-old son, Ryan, to suicide in 2003. Ryan was one of the first victims of cyberbullying as social media emerged as an opportunity for peers to bully from a distance and behind a computer screen. John wishes he had prepared his sweet, sensitive son to be less vulnerable. In this presentation, John will give a shortened version of Ryan's Story and review the key points in his book regarding safe technology use, suicide prevention, and how parents can help their child cope with cyberbullying. The presentation will also include time for questions and a community discussion regarding suicide and bullying prevention. Registration is required, seating is limited.
