If you have a desire to make writing your memoir or novel a priority, this collaborative workshop will provide you the necessary guidance, structure, and writer's tools. In this 3-week mini workshop, you'll learn how to draw upon your life experiences to write a memoir or to craft fiction from your imagination.
You'll tackle your writing from all angles--as a reader, writer, editor, and with your eye toward publication. You'll learn strategies to execute your ideas which will save you time as a writer and serve your story. You'll study the craft of writing from weekly mentor texts (nonfiction and fiction). You'll write at minimum a chapter a week. Under the guidance of a working editor of two award-winning magazines, you'll learn how to shape your writing to captivate readers and sustain their interest. We'll delve into the ever-changing book publishing landscape and the many print and online magazines which could serve as homes for your writing or launch your memoir or novel.
Writers of all levels are welcome. Workshop will include one-on-one conferencing to target ways in which you can grow as a writer and produce your highest quality writing. This is not a cookie-cutter workshop. (No cone of silence for the writer; no stale handouts from the instructor.)
