Make Music Day began in France in 1892 as the Fete de la Musique, and has spread to over 800 cities across 120 countries. This event grew into an international celebration that takes place on the summer solstice of each year. People of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to create music at participating venues all over the region on the longest day of the year.
The Northwest CT Arts Council is proud to host in this event in the region again this year, after the successful debut of Make Music NWCT in 2018.
Registration is now open for venues and musicians across Northwest CT at http://www.makemusicday.org/nwct/. Venues are strongly encouraged to register as soon as possible, and start promoting their participation in this event.
The NWCT Arts Council is looking for sponsors to facilitate "mass appeal" events for Make Music Day NWCT. These events could include community bucket drumming for kids, harmonica class for seniors, a meditation chanting circle, or other creative options.
