Garden Catering, in its current form, run by the sister-and-brother team Tina and Frank Carpenteri, Jr., got its start when their father, in 1991, bought the secret recipe for fried chicken from the family of Lou Iandoli, who had established Garden Catering in a train car in the center of Old Greenwich in the late ‘70s. That’s where the headquarters of the Carpenteri’s Garden Catering is still located, and the return of Lou’s chicken recipe was greatly welcomed by the locals. And not only the folks of Old Greenwich. There will be, as of June, seven locations running from Fairfield down to Mamaroneck, N.Y. — with the latest addition in Norwalk. Like the Fairfield location, the store in Norwalk will have seating. Garden Catering features express catering in all its stores, and the secret to the success of their catering service is not just the recipe in the world famous chicken nuggets — all cut by hand on the premises. The fact that almost everything they sell they make makes Garden Catering special. And they know that getting asked back to the party means having a personal touch with the clients. Frank, the face of the business in the front office, says Tina has an amazing memory for people and their orders, so it’s easy to know how to give people what they want when you’ve already tweaked the menu to fine-tune it to an event. And the menus involved are varied and tasty — with everything from filet mignon to California apple salad, not to mention the Garden Mexican Fiesta, with includes jalapeño poppers and chili con carne. The catering services feature online ordering and a loyalty program card that adds up points for rewards. Is there any event Garden Catering won’t take care of? Frank and Tina are emphatic: any wedding with over 200 guests! Now you know your cut-off capacity if you want Garden Catering at your nuptials.
