For 17 years, Eli’s on Whitney has been the go-to place for happy hour splendor. Eli’s always puts out a huge spread of food -- plates of penne a la vodka, a carving station, egg rolls, nachos, a cheese and cracker platter -- every Friday at around 4:30 p.m., to go with its extensive drink specials. As a result, legal patrons of all ages show up in droves. "Over time it has gotten bigger and bigger," says bar manager Nick Morrone. Still, times have changed. "People are working out, going to the gym after work," says Morrone. "Husbands and wives both work, and they have kids. Just as other places have stopped doing happy hour, ours keeps going."
