The Mill on the River is a well-loved restaurant located on the picturesque banks of the Podunk River. The menu ranges far and wide, from hearty western European favorites like brats and wiener schnitzel, to elaborate Italian pasta classics, American-style steaks and chicken and fusion-inspired Asian dishes. The view alone makes the location perfect for a romantic evening or special event. If you're looking for lighter fare, sample from the bar menu in The Mill on the River's beautifully-renovated bar.

Helmar Wolf, owner of Mill on the River, knows exactly why his restaurant is so romantic. “Its our setting and the way the mill looks,” he remarks. “We have a restaurant that is 200 years old and a bridge that connects the building from a parking lot over the waterfall.” And while you may think that a bridge tops it all, get a load of what they call it. “Its our kissing bridge,” says Wolf. If that doesn't entice you, consider what foods they conjure up on romantic evenings. “We serve more upscale items: filet mignon, surf and turf, pan-seared sea bass, items of that nature. We also have 350 wines and we feature 45 by the glass.”

Beautiful setting and good food. Before every think I have to thank the entire "bar" crew that was working today. We spent around 2 hours today and 1 hour and 55 minutes of it was realy beautiful. The last 5 minutes was like a nightmare because of (blonde) manager. I am a electronic cigaret user. While sitting on the bar for 1 hour and 55 minutes I was using my electronic cigaret and the manager was walking around to do her job. Then we start to talk with a couple that sits next to us. (Me and my wife are legal immigrants from Turkey). The nice couple told us they visited Turkey, so we started to talk about their visit, where they stayed and so on. After hearing that we are from another country the blonde manager tapped on my sholder and told me that "you are not allowed to smoke here". My answer was I am using a electronic vaporizer. Then she said "you are not allowed to smoke electronic cigarets also" . Then I asked do you guys have a sign? Her answer was "do you want me to call the police". My last words was this beatiful place deserves better management .
Still it was a beatiful Sunday.

The setting is beautiful. The food is just okay. But, the management is off their rocker to require that patrons leave a major credit card number on file to make a reservation for Mother's Day in this day and age of identity theft. And, the manager was a complete jerk about it and wouldn't even tell me how much they would charge the card if we couldn't make our reservation. Not to mention, they want around $15 for a single glass of average wine. They have lost me as a regular customer. Very insulted by the treatment I received. The manager acted like a cliche of a manger in a snooty Beverly Hills establishment. Get real.

We have been to this restaurant on numerous occasions for family get togethers and have never been happy with our meals. Today’s lunch was an exception that I hope is a harbinger of change though it may have been a lightning strike. Our table started off with shared appetizers of calamari fritti with lemon and caper aioli. The calamari were delicately coated, lightly fried and tender. For an entrée I had barbecue glazed seared scallops over an arugula salad that included grilled red onion, toast pine nuts, and shaved Pecorino Pepato. The salad was coated with a honey tarragon dressing. Service was very good.
