The menu says it all. Katz’s doesn’t just do sandwiches—it does “Chef’s Special” sandwiches (including “The Rachel,” made with “fresh roast turkey breast, melted swiss cheese, Russian dressing and cole slaw served on grilled rye bread”) and “Sky High” sandwiches (from “roast beef & pastrami” to “corner beef & tongue) and “Triple Decker” sandwiches (such as the chicken salad BLT offering called “The Woodbridge” after the deli’s hometown; other triple-deckers are named for neighboring burgs Cheshire, Hamden, New Haven and elsewhere). The deli’s “Classic Reubens” — five of ‘em, including a “choice of two meats” combo option — get their own special section of the menu. Then there are the tortilla wraps — classics like grilled vegetables and newer models like turkey and brie. Katz’s sandwiches are the greatest thing since sliced bread.
