Melanie Carr's dynamic art practice includes sculpture, installation, and interactive projects. Viewer focused forms, materials, space and the human body are the basis of works that are soft, bright and visually inviting. Carr describes herself as "consumed with touch, geometry, interactivity, and human experience, yet driven by intuition." Themes of dialog, play, rest and comfort are also present here in abstractions that that reside within and just outside of everyday experiences.
Carr lives and works in Essex CT where she recently opened a hybrid space dedicated to the practice, exhibition and promotion of contemporary art and design. Carr has exhibited nationally and in the United Kingdom. She received her AA from Middlesex Community College, a BA from Central Connecticut State University, and MFA from Lesley University. Carr is on staff at the Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts and teaches drawing at Central CT State University.
