Wreath laying, procession and open house to honor veterans.
Since the cancellation of the CT Veterans Day Parade , there have been efforts by local and statewide organizations to ensure that there will be some recognition of Connecticut's veterans in the capitol city on November 11th. Interestingly all three observances were organized independently of each other and have joined together for this poignant tribute.
Starting the day off at 11 a.m. , a Wreath Laying ceremony will be conducted at the Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Arch in Bushnell Park, in addition volleys will be fired and taps will be played.
At 12 p.m. A Veterans Procession will step off from Elm street, travel down Trinity to Jewell and Ford streets and through the Memorial Arch back to its starting point. The parade route will take in 3 of the war memorials in the park.
At 1 p.m. the doors open to the historic 1st Company Foot Guard Armory on High street for a Veterans Open House.
Tours will be conducted of the Armory and Museum , there will be a ceremonial presentation of the colors and a band concert as well.
