The Friends of Lake Pocotopaug (FLP) are organizing a
Water Ski Show at Sears Park. The free show is also co-sponsored by the East
Hampton Parks & Recreation Dept. and is open to the public. A rain date
will be the following Thursday, Aug. 18th.
Lake Water Ski Club (CLWSC) will present the show and perform acts that include: barefooting, wakeboarding, pyramids,
trick skiing, handle doubles, hydrofoil, and step-offs.
CLWSC has been performing an annual ski show on Coventry Lake
for over 20 years. The club started as a very small group of individuals who
loved to ski and to try crazy new stunts. The club has evolved over time and
currently offers a slalom program with a slalom course, a show ski program and
a learn-to-ski program. The current CLWSC is a family-oriented organization
with members ranging from ages 2 - 64. The members are mostly from Coventry and
other surrounding towns and include skiers of varying skill level from beginner
to advanced. There are also non skiing
members who support the club by driving boats, spotting, and managing
equipment. Also in the evening, Flux will be playing at the O'Neill Gazebo from 6 to 9 p.m. The
Lions Club will be serving food and other refreshments.
