If you go out to local original-music-friendly bars like Sully's Pub, the Acoustic Café and Café Nine, chances are you've seen Mo Niklz spin at some point, be it solo, with Sketch tha Cataclysm or Ceschi. But the rest of the country has been getting to know him, too, with three tours under his belt this year already, one of which took him out to SXSW where he performed a video showcase for Ceschi's label Fake Four upstairs at a venue as Kid Koala (one of Niklz' favorites) was playing downstairs simultaneously. "I spin mostly hip-hop, funk and rock," says Niklz. "My goal is to create a fun environment and blend different genres in a very turntablist way, and to work with other artists to help create a unique sound… I've been really trying to work on a audio-video setup where I spin and manipulate music videos and other kinds of videos from TV shows, movies, YouTube, etc., to try and create a syncopated video set which I can manipulate on the fly.
Mo Niklz was named the "Best DJ" in Connecticut in the Advocate/Weekly's Grand Band Slam 2012. See his winner page on CT.com.
