The term "indie" shifts in meaning all the time, as mainstream culture continually adapts ideas from the underground. Even still, at first listen, Fight the Fear might seem like a band with serious pop aspirations, rather than a band of the underground: They have a dynamic lead singer, upbeat tunes and the chops of serious professionals, and they go by their first names. But as drummer Jake puts it, to hit the pop charts these days, "with the style of music to [suit] a singer like we have, we'd have to omit guitars. I think why I prefer the indie category is, we are guitar-driven."
Fight the Fear was named the "Best Indie Band" in Connecticut in the Advocate/Weekly's Grand Band Slam 2012. See their winner page on CT.com.
